This photo shows rhe <br />existing condition of <br />the eastern headgate <br />viewed from inside <br />facing upstream. The <br />gate does not seal. <br />This photo shows the <br />leak that exists <br />through the old fitting <br />immediately <br />downstream from the <br />western gates. The <br />downstream end of <br />the gate is in the <br />background of the <br />photo. <br />As part of this work a section of each of the two outlet pipes running through the dam will <br />be repaired. Original outlet pipes are 48 inch cast iron pipes. Immediately after initial <br />construction in the early 1900's, cracks developed in portions of both outlet pipes. These <br />problems were repaired by lining the cracked pipe sections with a 44 inch internal steel pipe <br />section. These two steel pipe sections have reached the end of their useful life as evidenced <br />by delamination of the pipe. <br />8 <br />
