PROJECT APPROACH
ADF is that it provides several controls that would reduce development and maintenance. For
example, changes to the layer list and legend in the service are automatically reflected in the
application, and there is no need to manually change a configuration file or create symbology
swatches. The ADF also allows for mashups, making it possible to use free web map services,
thus reducing the amount of local data that has to be collected, updated, and maintained. The
disadvantage of using ADF is that customizing the controls is difficult.
Hood Layers
y ^ NFlP Community Status
~ ^ Flood Maps
k ^ DFIRM Prel m nary L nes
~ ^ Lanmer County Exist nq fIR
8 ^ Fort GolLnz City Floodplain
~ ^ Historical Flocds
a ^ Weather Moditicaton
CE ^ flcod Control
'ri ^MUki-Hazard
5 ^~ Flood Outlook
.^SNOTEL Sitea 3006-OS-29
~ Data Not Available
•1-SO
51-300
• > 300
( Q Flood Threat Bulletin
®Flood Waminp
~FlCOd Watch
^hunor Flooding Possible
^NO A[trvity
31 ^ 7.15 Day flcod Weminq
7 ^ SLVE 3006-05.30, Inch
;~ ^ Climate
B ^Gages
^struaur«
M O Reference
b ^ NFHL
m ^ NLCD
QTDDegrcphy
ib Q NGS USA Topcgrcphic McPs
B ^Imagery
iH Q USA Drime Imagery
~', Seerdt for 'i _.
Find
.l __. _-
I r(. ~ ,
~-_ ~1
{ -
yve~~.~ ~ _..
oe- 3Mi L"
~ + roY
...+
i'
t ~~ _. ~__
s'mwswcr _:
i-* .
j f t
-~, tip'.
t lrsrnn~~
f .
/•.•~
10 O 20 FiM
,:!.~ ::~: ~".r~Lr~
L.ov.aik.
yxci q r.„
" ~-nr t v. on n .:J ~~a ae•!vu .xrax
4
r~tfk jw C4la;tA 1 ~ [ ~ -
n..Ne l aL ~ ,jt{.,, i ~
IYA.Y N
zkN e d lvlr:.4~ n ~ _ '.
i
_ ~ yfw.pn .._ ~ __. _.__
r 1Nt Bl Tllt ..LP ~Rn Crr- 1 ~_~.. .~
- ~ !`~ Se*erc rain-on=snoN Iri higher front range could lead to flood cor3ditlons
,4Yr- lT
lv 6 2
L nTe ( 1
,P' i .~jt~,
/ ~ ... Riverside Flood DSS Prototype Using an Alternative Technology of ArcGIS Server and the
ArcGIS Web ADF
ArcGIS JavaScript API -With this alternative, ArcGIS Server is used as the map server and
the ArcGIS JavaScript API is used on the client (Figure 4-3). Using the JS API requires more
initial development time than using the ADF, but is easier to customize and it can use web map
services.
DNR RFP PDA-923 29 R I V E R S I D E
