2.4 INFORMATION AND EDUCATION
2.4.1 Goal
The goals of the information and education element are to inform and educate the general public
about the biological requirements of threatened and endangered species, the importance of the
Platte River in meeting the biological requirements of threatened and endangered species, and
the methods of land and water management necessary to restore and maintain habitat to meet the
biological requirements of threatened and endangered species; to encourage private landowners
on the Platte River to implement land management methods which assist in restoring -and
maintaining habitat for threatened and endangered species; and to inform and educate local,
state, and federal governmental officials of the Platte River's importance to threatened and
endangered species and to encourage Iegislative and congressional financial support of the
Program.
2.4.2 Approach
The development and implementation of the information and education program should utilize
existing entities and organizations already performing information and education programs.
Existing entities and organizations that may serve as a resource base include, but is not limited
to, the following:

Nebraska Game and Parks commission
National Audubon Society
Central Platte Natural Resources District
