development of the Program's data management system will be given high priority from the <br />beginning of the Program. <br />2.4 INFORMATION AND EDUCATION <br />2.4.1 Goal <br />The goals of the information and education element are to inform and educate the general public <br />about the biological requirements of threatened and endangered species, the importance of the <br />Platte River in meeting the biological requirements of threatened and endangered species, and <br />the methods of land and water management necessary to restore and maintain habitat to meet the <br />biological requirements of threatened and endangered species; to encourage private landowners <br />on the Platte River to implement land management methods which assist in restoring -and <br />maintaining habitat for threatened and endangered species; and to inform and educate local, <br />state, and federal governmental officials of the Platte River's importance to threatened and <br />endangered species and to encourage Iegislative and congressional financial support of the <br />Program. <br />2.4.2 Approach <br />The development and implementation of the information and education program should utilize <br />existing entities and organizations already performing information and education programs. <br />Existing entities and organizations that may serve as a resource base include, but is not limited <br />to, the following: <br />U.S. Fish and Wildlife <br />Nebraska Game and Parks commission <br />National Audubon Society <br />Central Platte Natural Resources District <br />PIatte River Wllooping Crane Trust <br />17
