WATER CHEMISTRY <br />Limited chemical data were collected for this study area. <br />Samples were analyzed for heavy metals and selenium, but since no <br />attempt was made to determine water sources, and since most water <br />originates in the Green River, only a few samples were analyzed <br />for anions and cations. In general study area water is a sodium- <br />calcium sulfate-bicarbonate type water. Chloride occurs in low <br />concentrations compared with sulfate and bicarbonate. <br />Water conductivities were relatively low compared with the <br />other study sites. Figure 11 shows the conductivity of water <br />from our study stations. In general, conductivities in the river <br />and lakes connected to the river was less than 1000 uS cm'1. <br />Managed wetlands had high evaporation rates with no flushing and <br />conductivities ranged around 2,000 uS cm'1. Ground waters, as we <br />found at other study sites, had the highest conductivities, to <br />more than 10,000 Us cm-1.
