evaporation attributable to Bonneville Unit use of Strawberry Reservoir. Total evaporation from Strawberry Res. Is
29,500 AF (CUP +SVP) cited in Strawberry Water Supply Appendix Vol 2, Attach. F -Strawberry Reservoir Operation
Model Printouts, and Water Supply Appendix, vol 1, Figure 1-1, June 1997. 29,500 - 17,700 = 11,800 AF.
Provo River Operations Study updated and included in 88 DPR in support of M&[ System of Bonn. Unit, CUP. Models
theoretical average diversions of Provo River Project under full demand, and with Jordanelle Reservoir operating under
full demand, for years 1931 to 1973. Utah State Engineers records of actual diversions through Duchesne Tunnel for
1954 to 1996 show average of 22,200 AF per yeaz. We believe the 31,700 AF figure is the more realistic picture of
Duchesne diversions because it recognizes full operation of the system, a condition not reflected in the historic diversions
to date.
4~ -USBR. 1988. Proposed Rehab. and Betterment Program. Moon Lake Project, Utah. Revised 1988. Pg. II-11, Table
II-1. Includes only Federal project water diversions 1970 - 1986 averaging 49,074 AF per yeaz. Assuming 50%
efficiency due to flood irrigation practices.
si -Supplemental water delivered to Midview Res. to irrigate lands served under the Midview Exchg. 1'lie majority of tl~e
diversions is accounted for unclcr ¢/. Midview Exchg. Allows diversion of a percentage of the annual yield
(11,600/21,400) of Starvation Reservoir. Average diversions from water year1988 through water year 1996 have been
11,915 AF (CUWCD Water Delivery Records). Assume 50% efficiency due to flood irrigation practices(rounded to
5000). Due to the history of and complexities of the Midview Exchange, it is possible this 5000 AF is also included
entirely in 8/ (ie., double counted). Extensive new analyses of both depletions would be required to confirm this.
~ -Federal project Diversions of 250,000 AF/year (Average for 1994, 1995, and 1996; River Comm. Reports) and
assumed 50% efficiency due to flood irrigation practices. Does not include non-UIIP tribal diversions. Per Lynn Hansen,
BIA Irrigation Specialist, Ft. Duchesne, UT. Full utilization of the Ute Tribes' Federal Reserved Water Rights will result
in a depletion of 143,752 acre-feet per yeaz. (Bureau of Indian Affairs, Uintah and Ouray Agency, July 20, 1998).
see 1/.
~ -CUP water delivered out of Starvation Res. for irrigation in the Duchesne River agricultural area. See jl Table 6-2,
Pg. 6-11. 21,400 AF is under contract in Starvation Res. + 3000 AF not under contract but committed to non-Indian
irrigation (by exchange) until the Ute Tribe develops additional Class 3 and 4 lands. Assuming 65% efficiency due to
sprinkler irrigation practices. (24400 X 0.65 = 15,860)
