sponsoring the bill, so he would know our position, Senators and
representatives from the respective states, and to the seven State
Governors of the Council membership, President of the American Fisheries
Society, Congressman Rowe, and Mr. Wes Hayden of the International
Association.
It was moved by Dick McClesky, New Mexico, that the Resolution as
read be adopted. Will Molini of Nevada seconded and it was carried
unanimously. The adopted Resolution is attached as Exhibit J.
Mr. Worthley, asked Gary Edwards, Arizona, to read a proposed resolu-
tion concerning grass carp.
Gary read the proposed resolution, which is attached as Exhibit K.
Bud Bristow, Arizona, moved the motion be adopted.
Gary Edwards said that a qualifying statement should be made--that both
the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Reclamation would take
the position that they have not really done this. It might be better
to do it by letter and accomplish the same purpose.
Mr. Day called for a second and being none, the proposed resolution died. -
Bud Bristow, Arizona thought it would be appropriate to send a
letter with a copy of the proposed resolution to the Fish and Wildlife
Service, calling attention to the problem.
Jack Dieringer said he had attended some meetings redently'and heard
some remarks that were definitely advocating the introduction of grass
carp. He thought that the least.that could be done would be to send
the letter and try to get the attention of the Fish and Wildlife Service
and let them know that they are not helping the individual states.
Several other participants made comments relative to the situation and
it was concluded that it would be appropriate to send a letter to both
the Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bureau of Reclamation pointing
out the concern, and leave the contacting of specific individuals up to
them.
The suggestion carried unanimously.
RESOLUTION NO. V - Appreciation of the Nevada Department of Wildlife.
Mr-Day suggested that a resolution should be sent to the Nevada Depart-
ment of Wildlife, for their outstanding job of hosting the 1983 Colorado
River Wildlife Council meeting, and moved that it be adopted. Mr. Worthley
seconded the adoption of the Resolution and it was carried unanimously.
Resolution No. V as adopted is attached as Exhibit L.
9
0
