East Winnie (Lake) to Schoolcraft State Park (River Mile 1233 to 1202) - Approximately <br />31 river miles (may leap frog at Hwy, mile #1216); Very remote wilderness (classified wild) <br />east of Winnie; meandering channel through sand dunes; unique wetlands and drainage; <br />waterfowl, wildlife; contiguous with Chippewa National Forest and Leech Lake Indian <br />Reservation; local use for hunting; ricing; partying (7); impoundments on Cass, Winnie and <br />Leech Lake River affect water flows. Great waterfowl area and good for birdwatching in the <br />spring; also wild ticing and duck hunting. Early spring fishing. <br /> <br />June 16 <br />July 4 <br />September 4 <br /> <br />7. Schoolcraft State Park to Blackberrv Bridge (River Mile 1202 to 1175) - Approximately <br />27 river miles, (may leap frog at Dam mile #1187); classified as scenic, passing through towns <br />of Cohasset and Grand Rapids; shoreline development; access to system of lakes SW of Grand <br />Rapids; unique natural features between Cohasset and Grand Rapids includes bedrock <br />outcropping; use of high speed boats reported in the area; south of Grand Rapids is popular spot <br />for local canoeists; classified as scenic; several access points around GR. <br /> <br />July 3, 13, 26 <br />September 4, 30 <br /> <br />8. Blackberry Brid!!e to Jacobson access (River Mile 1175 to 1145) - Approximately 30 <br />river miles, (may leap frog at Hwy 72 landing, mile # 1165); shoreland is developed, with <br />predominant use residential, some forestry and some agricultural. Corridor should be <br />predominantly wooded; Great River Road visible; erosion is visual problem; several access <br />points; wildlife; classified as scenic. <br /> <br />June 1 <br />July 13, 18 <br />August 16 <br /> <br />9. Jacobson to Libbv (River Mile 1145 to 1109) - Approximately 36 river miles; (possible <br />to leap frog at Ms. Keto or Adams campsite mile #1132); some rapids; passes near Big Sandy <br />Lake which is large federal recreation area; predominant land use is forested; some agricultural; <br />erosion is a problem; classified as scenic. <br /> <br />July 27, 28 <br /> <br />10.
