Three Fords - 9/26/84

Air photos Show no major changes in morpnology between 1951 and
1979. Local control of conditions is attributable to large
alluv;al fan at mouth of Three Fords Canyon. One set of cross
sections have been developed, longitudinal profile indicates
steep slope.

Conclusion: Channel equilibrium is a correct assumption.

Ouray Refuge

Air photos show minor changes in bar position and extent but
drastic flow differences between photo sets limits comparison.
Yet, bar structure and channel cross sections suggest m~d1f1ca-
tion of conditions towards a more .canal-likeD situation. The
cross sections show less rough (fewer bars) conditions than
notable in 1963 photos and bar location (nigh areas) have
shifted slightly.

Conclusion: Site is considered suitaDle for use in terms of
channel morphology but additional analysis would be desirable.
