For a short
time prior to the estimated spawning period in 1982, three radio-tagged fish
(Nos. 11, 18 and 19) occurred in a river pool near Clifton, Colorado. Six
fish had moved to Black Rocks by the end of the monitoring period. The
remaining radio-tagged fish in this reach exhibited a variety of up- and
downstream movements~ but stayed in the Grand Valley area.

In 1983, two Colorado squawfish (Nos. 26 and 28) that had been implanted
with long-term radio transmitters in the Black Rocks area during fall 1982 had
moved upstream to the Grand Junction area by May. One of these (No. 26)
subsequently moved farther upstream to the Palisade area in August. In 1984,

12
