( Fit. 6 )
Six to eight sites (designated A to F, G, or H) were selected within
each trend zone for fish sampling. In addition, one special site of interest
above and two below the Yampa River trend zone - Juniper Not Springs (Y2J),
the base of Cross Mountain Canyon (Y4A), and a large pool (Lily Park Pool)
3 km west of Cross Mountain Canyon (Y4) - were sampled (all were sites of
recent Colorado squawfish captures). An off-stream impoundment along the Colo-
rado River trend zone between Palisades and Clifton (labor camp near Bridges
Switch, designated as site G) was also sampled as a special site.
One to three saes wifh*1 n each of the trend zones, except the
Colorado River from Palisade to Clifton, were selected as special "habitat
measurement areas" for river channel surveys. Specific site selection ?;as based
on accessibility, recent endangered fish captures and/or presence of features
representative of much of the trend zone. These areas, as indicated on the
maps, Figures 1, 2,3,5and 6, are located as follows:
Yampa River - Approximately 100 m above County Road 40 Bridge, 2
km north of Maybell, Colorado (at fish collection site A).
