13
YOY N. lutrensis consumed significantly more terrestrial invertebrates
at Stratum B than at the other strata, more invertebrate remains at Stratum
V than at other strata, and more Ephemeroptera at Stratum E than at other
strata. Ranked values showed that YOY N. lutrensis consumed more Diptera
at Strata V and VI than at Strata A, B, C, E, F, and G.
Adult N. lutrensis were found at Strata A, B, C, D, E; F, G, IV, V,
VI, and IX. They ranged in length from 30 to 78 mm with a mean length of
45.86 mm. Invertebrate remains comprised 52.54% and Ephemeroptera com-
prised 40.41% of the total diet. At Stratum A Trichoptera were the major
food items. At Strata B, C, G, IV, V, VI, and IX invertebrate remains were
the major food items. At Strata D, E, and F Ephemeroptera werethe major
food items.
Adult N. lutrensis consumed significantly more seston at Strata A
and IV than at other strata, more Diptera at Strata V, F, and VI than at
Strata A, B, C, D, E, IV, and IX, more Trichoptera at Stratum A than at other
strata, more Ephemeroptera at Stratum E than at other strata, and more eggs
at Stratum G than at other strata.
Notropis stramineus - Sand Shiner
Two YOY N. stramineus were found at Stratum VI. One was 23 mm, the
other 27 mm in length. They both ate Diptera.
Adult N. stramineus were found at Strata VI and IX. They ranged in
length from 40 to 60 mm with a mean length of 48.15 mm. Invertebtate remains
comprised 69.95% of their diet. At Stratum IX the major food items were
Trichoptera, and the mean was significantly greater than zero (the amount
at Stratum VI) with raw and rank p = .0008.
