George Smith, Water Resources Division, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, in
Denver, Colorado. George was instrumental in establishing the Channel
Monitoring Program for the Recovery, Program and we spent many hours
both in the field and at meetings together. George, I apologize for all the
times you got dunked in the river because of my boat driving.
Darrel Snyder and Bob Muth and staff of the Larval Fish Laboratory,
Colorado State University provided excellent biological support in
developing light trap sampling techniques for the Green River.
Implementation of the standardized monitoring for razorback sucker larvae
on the Green River provided critical information to assist in recovery efforts
for the species.
Field and technical assistance was provided by many staff of FLO
Engineering, Breckenridge, Colorado. Jim O'Brien, Bill Fullerton, and
Craig Boroughs provided valuable technical guidance and support throughout
many aspects of the project. Surveying cross sections on large rivers is hard
work. I appreciate the long days you put in, Jim, and I enjoyed working
with you.
Field assistance and technical support was also provided by Marshall
Flug and John Scott of the Biological Research Branch of the U. S.
Geological Survey, Fort Collins Colorado. Help in setting up the split flow
HEC-2 model and facilitating funding for data collecting and modeling are
appreciated. Field assistance and data collection support were also provided
by Paul VonGuerad of the U. S. Geological Survey, Grand Junction.
Technical support and advice was also provided by John Elliot and Randy
Parker of the U. S. Geological Survey, Denver.
Bill Jackson, Gary Smillie, Mike Martin, and Brian Cluer from Water
Resource Division of the National Park Service helped evaluate data
collection technique at my study site and suggested field data collection
methods to improve model calibration. Brian and Mike provided field
survey assistance in 1996. I especially thank Brian for his assistance
vii
