Brief Proiect Descriotion: Boulder County and the Cities of Longmont, Lafayette, Louisville, and
Boulder (Project Partners) propose to remove approximately 8,700 Russian olive or tamarisk trees on
public and private lands in Boulder County. All partners combined will be contributing cash and in-kind
services totaling 62% of the project costs. We are requesting 38% from the TRO Grant. Tree removals
will occur in the St. Vrain hydrologic units code (HUC) in the South Platte Watershed, which includes St
Vrain and Boulder Creeks and their tributaries. This project will assist with the restoration and
maintenance of riparian communities in the South Platte Watershed through controlling the non-native
woody species, mainly Russian olive. This effort will protect water resources, riparian communities and
the wildlife that use these areas. It will also protect watershed and communities from flooding and
enhance agricultural production by removing Russian olive along irrigation ditches.
