All partners combined will be contributing cash and in-kind
services totaling 62% of the project costs. We are requesting 38% from the TRO Grant. Tree removals
will occur in the St. Vrain hydrologic units code (HUC) in the South Platte Watershed, which includes St
Vrain and Boulder Creeks and their tributaries. This project will assist with the restoration and
maintenance of riparian communities in the South Platte Watershed through controlling the non-native
woody species, mainly Russian olive. This effort will protect water resources, riparian communities and
the wildlife that use these areas. It will also protect watershed and communities from flooding and
enhance agricultural production by removing Russian olive along irrigation ditches.
Proiect Location:
County(ies): Boulder
Watershed and Tributar ies Effected: St. Vrain HUC; South Platte Watershed
Nearest Community(ies): Unincorporated Boulder County, City of Longmont, City of Lafayette,
City of Louisville, City of Boulder
Maior Proiect Benefits (check all that aooly):
Water Savings: X
Flood Mitigation: X
Riparian/Habitat Restoration: X
Reduce Erosion X
Improve Water Quality X
Enhance Recreationa I Access
Acres Treated: (we are tracking this in numbers of trees treated)
Total Number of trees: 8000
Approx. % of trees Private Land: ~
Approx. % of acres Federal Land:
Approx. % of acres State Land:
Approx. % of trees Other Land (describe) Municipal and County Open Space areas and other
city and county owned property: HQ2
Proiect COlt:
Total Project Cost: $400,000
CWCB Funds Sought (in dollars and as % of total): $200,000 (50%)
Applicant & Partner Cash Funds (in do liars and as % of total): $215,000
Applicant & Partner In-Kind Services (in dollars and as % of total): $50,000

Estimated Comoletion Date: 2 years after grant award

1

Boulder County Collaborative
Tamarisk and Russian Olive Removal Project
