Todd Doherty: I do not know much about this. This is an initiative on
the part of Eric Hecox, cannot speak to the matter.
Harold Evans: Bill: believe that you understand the sentiment of this
group that we really want to get on and get some wet water.
Bill Jerke: Should I express a level of a bit of impatience and that we are
readv to advance the call of wet water?
Mike Shimmin: Orin instinct is that because of the progress at the IBCC
and that we have started to actually start discussing strategies that it is a
time for patience.
Julio Iturreria: Given the 3 items ( water conservation, ag dryup, and
transbasin diversions) would encourage that Bill expresses positive
position on focusing on these strategies.
Bill Jerke: Certainlv would be worthwhile to stress that we have the
most to lose as per ag dryup. Conservation only goes so far and
transbasin diversions must be approached with caution and delicately.
Julio Iturreria: Other two items to discuss: drought as it stands and that
this is a far-reaching drought in CO as well as the need for storage
facilities.
John Metli: Would it hurt to work with the Metro or AK before the
meeting? Seems like it would be worthwhile to speak with a common
voice.
Harold Evans: Challenge is of course the competition with the south
metro and metro.
Metli: Yes, but as we direct our voice to the West, seems as if we need
to find commonality with metro.
Julio Iturreria: I sit on the Metro, and although I don't dispute the
position about the Metro looking "north or Nvest,"this is not the position
of all.
5:35: Update on Ducks Unlimited Activities: Greg Kernohan
Review of application:
Over last 12 months: DU has received 2 grants from this roundtable and a smaller one from
Weld County School District: $1.2 million, has been leveraged up to $2.6million. Last grant
of $850,000 has not yet been leveraged (leveraged in March).
Partners: 20 (from Brush, Sterling, Central CO WCD, private landowners, state and fed
landowners.)
Heyborne: 40 acre wetlands; floating pump, 3/4 mile of pipeline; construction just about to
start.
Agreements are complicated but going forth.
Landowner: Kent Heyborne
Water Owners: LSPWCD
Duck Owner: DU
Water Beneficiary: No Man's Land (8 wells that were shut off, here these were worked into
plan)
Funders: landowner, LSPWCD, South Platte, DNR
Funders: CWCB WSRA: $149,000... leveraged then at $395,000
