Alternative Agricultural Water Transfer Methods -Grant and Loan Program <br />Project Summary Sheet <br />Applicant: University of Colorado (Regents) <br />Water Activity Name: Inquires into Alternatives to "Buy and Dry" Water <br />Transfers and Local Government Interest" <br />Amount Requested: $170,739 <br />Matching Funds: No <br />Drainage Basin: Arkansas River <br />Water Source: Arkansas River <br />Project Summary: <br />Scope of Work <br />Task 1 Inquiries with Ditch Companies <br />• Prepare explanatory materials, schedule meetings, provide presentations, <br />and engage ditch company officials concerning company and <br />shareholder interests in potential water transfers, and potentially <br />important conditions such as preferences for kinds of programs, <br />estimates of suitable land types for different purposes, and discussion of <br />potential applications of different programs and combinations of <br />interests. NOTE: It is critical in this step that companies will be <br />cautioned against revealing proprietary information until such time as <br />they wish to do, and inquiries will be carefully conditioned to avoid <br />intrusion. It is considered to be valuable for the companies to make <br />internal inquiries which they may be better able to make after discussion <br />of the illustrative examples developed by the Water Transfers <br />Committee. <br />Method <br />The Committee will develop basic concepts and preferences for <br />questions and approach, and the facilitator (Smith) and advisors (Weber <br />and Wiener) will make the visits with any Committee or Basin <br />Roundtable participants who wish to j oin (subj ect to invitation by the <br />ditch company). Reporting of each meeting will first be to the <br />participants for review, correction, or addition, and after approval, to the <br />Committee and in project reporting. <br />Additional consultations at a general level maybe held with relevant <br />experts and officials such as: <br />o USDA Resources Conservation and Development Area <br />Specialist USDA <br />
