Hydrology and Water Rights

The source of head gate water for the Headgate 135 Lateral, Inc. is delivered
by Grand Valley Irrigation Company to the Lateral 135. The water rights
were established in 1902. The flow at the Headgate is 3.04 CFS.

Project Description

Headgate 135 Lateral, Inc. has been working with Natural Resources
Conservation Service and Grand Valley Drainage District to design and
implement a pipeline project that will convey irrigation water from the
headgate to Gunnison Avenue. The project will:
1. Eliminate water losses and promote water use efficiently.
2. Eliminate cleaning and maintenance of the open ditch and
reduce sediment and salinity.
3. Eliminate tail water from entering into irrigation water.

In order to accomplish the project, NRCS will require that the drainage water
be segregated from lateral operation from E Road to Gunnison Avenue and
will be carried in a separate parallel pipe to facilities owned by the Grand
Valley Drainage District. The Bishop of Pueblo, the owner of the farm being
serviced by the drain has agreed to pay the cost of the drainage pipe and
installation less the assistance in kind provided by the Grand Valley Drainage
District.
Additional, the Bishop of Pueblo has agreed to cost share the one-half
expense plus installation of piping 600 feet of the lateral from the headgate
west to the edge of their property. And, 3P Development, LLC has agreed to
cost share one-half of the expense plus installation on approximately 550 feet
of the lateral along the east edge of their property as shown in Appendix B.

6
