<br />Headgate 135 Lateral, Inc. Pipeline Projeet <br /> <br />Introduction <br /> <br />The Headgate 135 Lateral, Incorporation a Colorado non-profit corporation <br />manages the Lateral 135 for the benefit of its shareholders who receive water <br />under the lateral. Irrigation water is diverted from the Colorado River into <br />the Grand Valley Canal and carried to the headgate of the Lateral135.The <br />lateral is approximately 2.5 miles in length. The Lateral proposes to upgrade <br />the headgate and install 4800 feet of pipeline from the headgate to Gunnison <br />Avenue. <br /> <br />Projeet Sponsor <br /> <br />Headgate 135 Lateral, Incorporation, has been incorporated in the State of <br />Colorado since September 19, 1988. There are approximately 100 <br />shareholders in the Corporation. The Corporation has the power to assess the <br />shareholders for operations, maintenance and administrative costs. Each <br />shareholder currently pays an annual $ 50.00 assessment. Subdivision users <br />each pay an additional $15.00 for irrigation water. Headgate 135 Lateral, Inc. <br />is governed by a board of five directors "currently there is a vacancy". <br />Traditionally, the Board of Directors meets and sets it's annual assessment at <br />it's March meeting. The Headgate 135 Lateral, Inc. conveys a total of217 <br />shares to its shareholders in the Grand Valley Irrigation Company: most of <br />the water shares are owned by individual shareholders. However 66 shares <br />have been pooled by shareholders in a trust agreement to reduce the cost in <br />the canal usage. The Articles of Incorporation, and By-laws are included as <br />Appendix A. <br /> <br />Projeet Service Area and Facilities <br /> <br />The Lateral is used for irrigating several small farms, an Elementary School <br />and several subdivisions, and individual homeowners.
