Interbasin Compact Coimnittee Vision Exercise outlines goals and objectives of work <br />of IBCC; also moving forward with evaluating different strategies and how to meet <br />those needs; focuses on supply- side strategies. demand side strategies and regional <br />coordination strategies; also addresses roles and next steps in developing a vision and <br />evaluating strategies. Newsletter also outlines next steps to achieving objectives. End <br />of newsletter is summary of water supplyr reserve account applications and projects. <br />Julio Iturreria: Is this the only report on the status of the IBCC visionary- process`? <br />Hecoi: There is not a power poilit; however, the work that the IBCC has done is in a <br />written document form. All of these are available on website. Neit iteration will <br />come out in mid-August; idea is that the documents are used to frame the discussion <br />in the IBCC meetings as they- go on in visionary process. <br />Iturreria: Difficult to find this on the website; would be good to have a discreet link <br />to the IBCC ~~-ork. <br />Hecoi: State is doing electronic archiving; useful, ho~~-ever, this also makes it <br />difficult to access these documents. Therefore, on website y-ou «-ould need to go via <br />the search button. <br />Bob Streeter: Interbasin transfers not here on vision statement: <br />Hecoi: last bullet under supply- side strategies: ``the benefits and risks associated with <br />additional compact development"-~~-e are moving foi-~~ard ~~;ith discussions about <br />compact development. We are doing this on a broader scale as opposed to specific <br />project scale. <br />Ralf Topper: In the newsletter, is the list of approved ~~ titer supply- reserve account <br />applications to the CWCB Board inclusive? <br />Heco~: Yes, except does not include those applications that the roundtable has <br />approved but will be acted on in the JulyT meeting. <br />V. Water SupplyT Reserve Account (WSRA) <br />1) Consideration of WSRA Applications <br />o Membrane Treatment Work Group -Zero Liquid Discharge <br />Pilot Projects -Approval for $25,000 from South Platte <br />Basin Account <br />Dave Alters: Presented at last meeting; summary: <br />--Background: Water Supply- Issue: SWSI finding: increasing <br />municipal and industrial demands cannot be met with existing <br />supplies; Muncipal demands require high quality- water source <br />(often compete for Ag water) or high degree of treatment (RO <br />membranes) <br />--Membrane Treatment Overview: T~~ o broad categories; high <br />pressure (RO/NF) removes "molecular-sized" contaminants <br />(98% contaminant removal); low pressure (MF/UF) removes <br />particulates, colloids, and turbidity-...here focus is on high <br />pressure <br />--Need for Membrane Treatment (SWSI-600IL ac-ft increase in <br />demand; source «-titer quality- issues; climate change could <br />impact floe-/quality'; recent drinking water rules: likely- future <br />requirements for emerging contaminants; aesthetic issues (taste <br />and odor) <br />--Challenges for Concentrate Disposal: high volume (15% of raw <br />water feed); raw water contaminants concentrated 6i; <br />
