Charnel-: Perhaps would be wise to have a small subcommittee of this group and Metro
to work with the consultants so that it proceeds in a wa~T that actually- articulates ~~-hat we
need.
Jerlce: We need a very small committee - 3 or so-so that we can have documents that
are similar in tone and statement.
Shimmin: One way to do this, treat this document as a draft and then work this into the
needs assessment and have that as the final document; this could help avoid ambiguity-
and inconsistency between the documents.
Hecoi: Yes, an~~ subcommittee should move foi-~~-ard in making sure that this document
is what we need and «-ant.
DiNatale: Like the idea of keeping this as a draft and then when we get to final needs
assessment and work this in.
Jerlce: Want to move forward and have subcommittee: Shimmin, Harold Evans, Eric
Wilkinson.
Charnel-: would be «ise to also have a rep from rec or environment.
Greg Kernohan: Will volunteer.
Slummiii: Please send us the final changes ~-ou make and ~~ e will work from there.
DiNatale and Hecoi: Same eiercise tomorrow with Metro roundtable.
Harold Evans: Need to understand that there is serious competition in Northern CO ~~ith
Metro.
Wilkinson: Need to add a section: Specific concerns of Metro and of South Platte; this is
possible to do in sane document, but the perspective of the two basins must be brought
out. Within five years, there will be onl~r t`vo options: di-~r up Ag or transbasin projects;
thus yen- important that there are two different perspectives.
Shimmin: This draft could be a launching pad from «hich the t« o basins compile
different assessments; perhaps an introducton- paragraph that states that as per the
completion of the needs assessment. We can work towards our own needs assessments.
Harold Evans: This does nothing to discuss declining ground water tables which are
important for Metro. In October 2008, Metro stated we only have two options: go north,
go west.
Frank Eckhardt: Which subcommittee member will represent Ag?
Joe Frank volunteers.
Janet Bell: Going forward with Upper Mtn County Needs Assessment ~~ as done because
SWASI did not look at the fact that the primary- source of ~~ ater of those counties is wells.
Therefore, this supply- from ~~-ells needs to be assessed. This is not looked at in this stud~~;
there is no consideration at all of wells; this is crucial for future development and needs
to be part of the needs assessment.
Hecoi: This is whys it is important to emphasize that this will be only part of the fiill
assessment.
Evans: This task force understands that the Republican and the Upper Mtn Counties had
separate focus.
Summary of Subcommittee: Shimmin, Wilkinson, Evans, Joe Frank (Frank
Eckhardt as alternate for Ag interests), Greg Kernohan.
Dinner
IV. Distribution of Newsletter and Update on Program Activities
Hecoi: Wants to emphasize points of communication and information of the
newsletter; PDF on website; fast quarter newsletter of 2008 dealt with technical
points; this newsletter focuses on the work that IBCC doing on Visioning Exercise.
Director Sherman summarizes accomplishments and future work.
7
