149.3 An updated CDSS web site containing an ArcIMS implementation to display the latest
real-time streamflow data throughout the state.
149.4 An updated CDSS web site (from Task 149.1) with enhancements to allow display of
historical diversion and streamflow data.
Task 152 -Data Flow and Procedure Manual Documentation and Updated Baseline Data
Objective:
Document the flow of data from HydroBase through various administrative and modeling tools
within the CDSS, in order to facilitate understanding of the system, and develop improved
procedures applied to baseline data sets.
Background:
A number of documents currently exist that describe the HydroBase database (Data Dictionary)
and modeling processes (StateMod, StateCU, and MODFLOW documentation). A procedure
manual for StateMod has also been developed to describe the model file creation process.
However, a number of significant changes to the database and modeling environment have
occurred and the existing documents do not fully address the data flow between different models
used in CDSS (the documentation for each model focuses on the features of the specific model,
not integrated use). Additionally, the groundwater modeling procedures implemented for the
RGDSS are not referenced in the existing StateMod procedure manual.
Approach:
152.1 Review Existing Data Flow and Modeling Information. Review existing CDSS
documentation, in particular the StateMod and StateCU documentation, and create an
updated document to describe the data flow between HydroBase, CWRAT/StateView,
StateDMI, StateMod, StateCU, and the groundwater model. The procedures for MODFLOW
use are currently being reviewed by the State. Therefore, MODFLOW will not be addressed
in detail in this task. The resulting documentation will include:
1. A description of the HydroBase data used in modeling, to be used as an initial inventory
of data and procedures. For example, this documentation will indicate the HydroBase
data that are used as input to StateCU and StateMod and will indentify the steps
necessary to process data from HydroBase into its final form for modeling. The main
focus of this effort will be on StateCU and StateMod, with minimal emphasis on
CWRAT/StateView and MODFLOW. It is not envisioned that the Division 5 workbook
or other basin-specific applications will be studied at this time.
2. A summary of model data file conventions, including directory and file naming
conventions.
3. A summary of model network conventions, including naming conventions for nodes. In
particular, attention will be given to issues with relating node-based identifiers in
StateCU and StateMod with cell-based identifiers in MODFLOW and parcel-based
identifiers in StateCU.
