^ enhancements related to updated HydroBase irrigated acreage tables
^ integrating the StateDMI map interface with StateCU data (e.g., to select parcels
associated with a diversion or well)
^ other miscellaneous clean up.
Deliverables:
140.1 An updated StateDMI application, with updated documentation, with enhancements
necessary to support the current version of StateCU to be used in the SPDSS.
Task 149 -More Graphics in Web Displays
Objective:
Implement amap-based ArcIMS server on the CDSS web site, to provide access to spatial data
and serve as an interface to HydroBase data.
Background:
The CDSS web site is a primary data source for users who have not purchased HydroBase and
software on CDs. Data available on the CDSS web site primarily consist of text-based reports
and delimited data. The organization of data views is consistent with StateView/CWRAT.
Detailed data for stations or structures requires selecting from a list of available
stations/structures. Real-time data are available in tabular and graphical form via a link to the
DWR web site.
Recent CDSS enhancements have resulted in an increased emphasis on the use of GIS and
spatial data in applications with graphical user interfaces. Spatial data products have also been
made consistent by water division, with ArcView and ArcExplorer projects and associated
shapefiles being available at no cost. The spatial data for CDSS have been developed somewhat
independently of other spatial data maintained by the State (DWR and CWCB). Discussions
with DWR GIS staff indicate that efforts have been ongoing to implement an ArcIMS server for
spatial data. However, although such efforts can be compatible with CDSS efforts, DWR staff
efforts will likely focus on internal needs and data (e.g., well permit locations). DWR expects to
use an existing ArcIMS license and server for a public web site, but it is unclear whether
sufficient resources truly exist for SPDSS/CDSS efforts. The focus of development will be to
implement working tools consistent with previous efforts allowing each party to focus on
deliverables for their respective projects. Development will be coordinated through initial design
meetings and continued communications in order to produce consistent data products and tools.
Spatial data products will be shared where possible to avoid duplication of effort and multiple
versions of data. Later efforts can build on the initial system.
The activities performed in this task will facilitate the implementation of ArcIMS or other
dynamic map based viewers under a separated scope if determined appropriate by the State.
Approach:
