conjunction with conversion to standard historical data. The current StateView/CWRAT also
does not provide access to additional real-time data (e.g., precipitation, temperature) that are
available from the State's satellite monitoring system. Addressing these issues will allow users
to view all data in HydroBase and result in a more useful system.
Approach:
109.1 Review HydroBase design for Real-time Data and Update Query Software. In
coordination with the State of Colorado HydroBase DBA, storage and retrieval of real-time
data will be reviewed and HydroBase design changes will be implemented as necessary with
corresponding changes to the CWRAT/StateView software. The State's HydroBase DBA
will make modifications to HydroBase and RTi will implement corresponding changes to the
CDSS software. In particular, stored procedures will be implemented to increase
performance and new features will be implemented to query additional real-time data types
and the average daily flows. The State's real-time system has traditionally focused on
streamflow data. This goal for this subtask is not to change that purpose but to implement a
more generic framework to allow access to other data types that are available in HydroBase.
Correspondence with the HydroBase DBA in October 2002 indicated that the following real-
time data stations are available (discharge and elevation are currently available in
StateView/CWRAT). Note that currently no distinction is made as to whether a discharge
value is for a stream or a diversion canal -this issue will be reviewed with the HydroBase
DBA to determine whether HydroBase changes are necessary.
Air temperature: 34
Air pressure: 1
Specific conductivity: 9
Discharge: 388
Elevation: 42
Evaporation: 1
Gage height: 388
Humidity: 1
PH: 4
Precipitation: 20
Storage: 40
Surface Area: 4
Water temperature: 11
Well level : 2
Wind direction: 1
Wind speed: 2
Because the low-level query software is fairly general, queries for all real-time data types
will be implemented and will be available for use as needed. Enabling these features will
allow access to the data for use as appropriate (e.g., water temperature may be important for
fish habitat monitoring). Making the data available may also initiate additional feedback
from users relative to the value of such data.
