~ ~l
Task 140 - TSTooI Enhancements
Objective:
Enhance TSTooI to support SPDSS modeling activities.
Background:
TSTooI and StateDMI are the primary da1;a processing tools used to prepare data sets for
StateCU and StateMod. Whereas StateDMI focuses on specific model data files, TSTooI
focuses on time series data in general, writing to StateMod file formats as the last step in
processing. TSTooI has been. in place for several years and the enhancements that are
identified here address specific needs.
Approach:
140.1 Implement Mixed Station Model Features. Implement 100% of the required
features of the Mixed Station Model, specifically:
• Enhance the f i 11Regre s s i on () command to allow multiple independent
stations for a single independent station and include parameters to indicate
when to use the best fit or specific stations, for combinations of months,
annual data, and linear/log transformation.
• Provide a general tool to analy;~e multiple stations, in order to indicate the best
combination of stations and pa~~ameters, for use with the above command
where specific stations are to bye indicated.
• Provide a command or tool to fill StateMod baseflow time series, using an
automated approach, to streamline data filling. This tool will offer the
features of the previous items.
• Streamline creation of filled data in new time series to simplify the filling
process. For example, make the newTimeSeries O command easier to
use and allow filled data to be automatically transferred to the new time series.
• Streamline creation of a residual graph comparing predicted value minus
observed value.
• In the regression results, list an annual RMSE for monthly regressions, which
can then be compared against the annual RMSE when monthly regressions are
not performed.
• Add the ability to create a time series and graph of the filled data
• Implement a tool to compute the wet/dry/average characteristics of time
series. This input is then used with the existing f i 11 Pa t t e rn () command.
Command parameters will be available to control the thresholds used to
determine wet, dry, and average conditions.
Communications and/or meetings will be held with State of Colorado staff,
Leonard Rice staff, and, if necessary the author of the Mixed Station Model, in
9
