•
integration of the USGS model and assessment of URFs. DMIs to assist in pre- and post-
processing, including plotting of time comparisons of modeled and observed water levels and
flows, will be developed. A DMI to assist in preparing runs and summarizing flow depletions for
the URF determination will also be developed. An interactive process with the State will be
conducted, where detailed designs will be presented prior to code development.
Approach:
Task 50.1 Code development
The following development and modification tasks will be included:
• MKSum will be generalized to allow customized reporting of stream water balance
components for selected groups of segments.
• ModBal will be updated to work with current tools to summarize water budget components
• Anew tool to manage multiple simulations for preparation of URFs will be developed,
building on the existing approach utilized in the RGDSS. This DMI will automate the
preparation of unit pumping files and the resulting stream depletions.
• Anew tool to extract fluxes from the USGS model and integrate with AGG and StatePP will
be developed
• A series of small DMIs will be developed to extract head data from model output, join these
data with calibration targets and manage generation of display graphics- for showing water
level distributions and drawdowns.
• Existing tools for summarizing model output will be modified and integrated into the data
centered workflow manager. The objective of this DMI is to allow summarization of model
flows over time at specified locations and to compare these flows either to field data or results
of other simulations. This will be used for assistance in calibration, assessment of model
sensitivity and, in the future, for the evaluation of impacts of different management
alternatives.
Task 50.2 Coordination
• Prepare for and conduct up to three half-day meetings with the CU and GIS Contractors to
discuss approaches and coordinate activities.
Deliverables:
Task 50.3 Technical Memorandum
• All software development will be conducted using appropriate scripting or programming
languages targeted at a Windows XP operating environment and compatible with database
SPDSS_Phase4_gw_SOW_09-15-06.doc 23
