There is no associated stor age on the Western Slope. Storage of water
transported through Vidler Tunnel on the Easter n Slope is addressed in two cases filed by
the City of Golden, Case N o. 83CW361 and Case No. 02CW379.
Golden’s Augmentation Plan, Case No. 83CW3 61, includes an exchange for storage in
Guanella Reservoir of two groups of water ri ghts decreed for transbasin diversion: the
Blue Danube Ditch water rights and the Homestead and Giberson Ditch water rights.
Golden’s proposed Augmentation Plan, Case No. 02CW379, includes the addition of the
remaining Vidler Tunnel water rights as approved sources of augmentation to fill
Guanella Reservoir.
Compact and Other Legal Considerations:
If Golden’s proposed augmentation plan (Case
No. 02CW379) is approved, the exchange of Vi dler Tunnel water will be junior to the
Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) in stream flow right on West Fork Clear
Creek approved in Case No. 87C W276. In order to prevent in jury to the instream flow
water right, Golden plans to limit the proposed exchange of Vidler Tunnel water to those
times when the CWCB instream flow water right is satisfied.
VidlerTunnel.doc 7 of 10
