volumetric limit per Case No. 83CW361) and junior direct flow water rights total 39.8 cfs.
Dillon and Green Mountain Reservoirs are key call ing water rights that affect the administration
of water in Summit County. The Vidler Tunnel Unit water right is a junior right relative to
Dillon and Green Mountain Reservoirs. As such, diversions on the Vidler Tunnel Unit water
right are contingent upon the wa ter level in the rese rvoirs and are made on a limited basis.
Various water rights associated with Vidler Tunnel have been sold to water users for use as
replacement credits in various augmentation plans for domestic and municipal water users. As
such, the water transported through Vidler Tunnel under senior wate r rights has been reduced in
amount and season of diversion. Table 1 shows the water rights for Vidler Tunnel and the
annual diversion limitation for tr ansport through Vi dler Tunnel.
Table 1
a/
Direct Flow Water Rights
Annual
Structure Appropriation Adjudication Diversion
Source Decreed Rate Use
c/
Name Date Date Limitation
(acre-feet)
b/
Senior Water Rights
Snake
Rice Ditch 5/3/1893 3/2/1910 4.5 cfs Irrigation
River
Soda Creek Soda
7/1/1900 3/10/1952 2.72 cfs Irrigation
Ditch Creek
Keystone
129 af
Phillips Ditch 6/1/1904 2/2/1910 4.0 cfs Irrigation
Creek
Snake
Rice Ditch 7/5/1914 10/26/1937 10.0 cfs Irrigation
River
Snake
Rice Ditch 7/5/1914 3/10/1952 10.0 cfs Irrigation
River
Irrigation
Peru
Arduser Ditch 9/28/1934 10/26/1937 3.0 cfs 14 af
Industrial
Creek
Domestic
Irrigation
Municipal
Valaer Ditch Blue River 2/21/1941 3/10/1952 12.96 cfs 140 af
Commercial
Domestic
Municipal
Commercial
Industrial
Recreation
Giberson Tenmile
69.6 af
5/1/1911 10/12/1914 4.0 cfs Fishery
Ditch Creek
Fire
Domestic
Wildlife
b/
Storage
VidlerTunnel.doc 6 of 10
