Big Thompson River) since water demands are generally satisfied by the combination of the
City's direct flow and transbasin water. The City emptied the storage contents in December 2002
and began construction to enlarge the reservoir to provide drought protection and to firm up its
changed and pending water rights. A finished capacity of 6,836 ac-ft was realized in July 2004
with the first 202A water and C-BT water diverted to storage starting in late-July 2004.
• Storage rights decreed in Case Numbers W-7751, 81CW160 and 86CW383 are summarized
in Table 3.
Table 3
Green Rid a Glade Reservoir Stora a Ri hts
Appropriation Adjudication Administration Decreed
Source Date Date No Amount Notes
. There are three wells on the eastern side of the City that
have been in operation since the late-1980s and supply approximately 50 ac-ft/yr for irrigation
uses.
Transbasin Water
The City of Loveland is within the boundaries of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy
District (NCWCD). As such, water made available through the Colorado-Big Thompson (C-BT)
Project is used within the City's service area. The City began deliveries associated with its
original ownership of 5,113 C-BT units in 1957. Starting in 1962, the City began to increase its
C-BT unit ownership and share ownership in nearby ditches. The City's ownership has increased
over time to a current holding of 10,548 C-BT units.
Pending Water Right Cases
The City has other cases pending in the Water Division 1 water court that will expand the City's
water supplies and provide more flexibility for its future operations as it continues to meet the
water demands of its growing service area. These cases are summarized briefly below.
City of Loveland Operating Memorandum.doc Page 11 of 15 January 5, 2005
