The river diversion
to the plant consists of a concrete, ogee spillway diversion structure on the main stem of the
Cache la Poudre River located above the Hansen Supply Canal and below the USGS stream gage
at the canyon mouth. Treated water is conveyed approximately 36 miles via gravity flow to the
City of Greeley through three pipelines. The plant was constructed in 1907, rebuilt in 1948, and
again in 1978. It is a conventional treatment plant with a maximum operating capacity of 20
million gallons per day (mgd). The deliverable capacity of the City's Cache la Poudre system is
19 mgd due to constrictions in the pipelines en route to Greeley. The City is undertaking a long-
range prof ect to install 60" pipe along the extent of the current pipeline route that is anticipated
to be completed by 2012.
Fort Collins, Greeley, and the Tri-Districts (rural water "~ ~ ~ ~`~ ~ ~ ~'~~~
suppliers in the Fort Collins area) finished t~-`'` ~ ~ ~ ~,
construction of the 120 mgd (186 cfs) capacity ,~ ,-;r<<,,~.,
''r - ~ tuallneal i~l~,uq
Pleasant Valley Pipeline (PVP) in spring 2004.
