Del Norte
Contact: Roy Boltin (719-657-3114)
Water use by the Town was reported as 277.9 millions gallons in 1998 (approximately 596 acre-
feet). Water is provided primarily by two groundwater wells that are approximately 300 feet
deep. The Town also has a surface water right on Pinos Creek that can deliver water to a
treatment plant, although this supply is not routinely used.
Center
Contact: Darrel Davis (719-754-3497)
Water use by the Town was reported as 317 million gallons
feet). Service is provided to
approximately 475 taps and 1,100 residents. Water is supplied primarily by a surface diversion
right from the Conejos River for 0.6 cfs (Antonito Town Ditch). Water is diverted via an
infiltration gallery located in the river, then piped to the Town. The Town also owns a
groundwater well that is approximately 500 foot deep that provides additional supply.
Combined M&I Water Use
Table 2 illustrates selected population data for 1997 and actual or estimated water use associated
with these selected cities or towns for 1998. Also shown are "adjusted" populations to reflect that
cities and towns typically provide water service to people living outside of their incorporated city
or town limits: reported municipal populations were increased by 15 percent based on service
population information provided by the City of Alamosa. For those municipalities not directly
contacted, water use was estimated using an average per capita water use rate (300 gpd per
capita) based on actual data from the six towns contacted.
C:Acdss\M&I Use.doc M&I Water Uses July 8, 1999 -Page 3 of 5
