Municipal Water Use and Sources
Alamosa
Contact: Don Koskelin (719-589-6631)
Water use by the City of Alamosa was reported at 840.7 millions gallons in 1998 (approximately
2,580 acre-feet). Of this total, 27.4 million gallons was derived from surface sources, primarily
diversions from a drainage slough. The remaining water supply was pumped from six
groundwater wells. These wells are over 1,000 feet deep and completed in the confined aquifer.
Monte Vista
Contact: Randy Martinez (719-852-5926)
Water use by the Town was reported as 672.5 gallons in 1998 (approximately 2,064 acre-feet).
Water is provided by five groundwater wells that range in depth from 800 to 1,000 feet and
located in the confined aquifer.
