Sasha Charney: Need for plan; mapping exists but it is not sufficient or
gathered together; therefore, working on mapping and finding an entity or
dedicated subconu7littee who will help formulate the plan; no one agency
can dedicate full time to this; therefore, working on finding point people.
Chuck Powell Important that this keeps rolling.
Bob Streeter: Not all roses, one particular county will be difficult to get
them to do anything; Morgan County has issues: how to get private land
owners to buy into this; very good start. Will have more progress to report
at next meeting.
Bill Jerke: Weld Cty commissioners have put in a budget request for Weld
Cty to be involved with Cty dollars of $50,000 then looping to leverage
this so that this will be effective.
Bob Streeter: Lots of piece meal actions going forward so focus will be on
basin-wide project; $12 million in Summit Cty, NE that is available in NE
for this; should be able to tap into some of that.
Alternative Ag Transfer Methods Sub-Committee:
Jim Yahn: Met today at 3:30; reviewed the status: hi March, with
assistance from Don Ament, made an application to CWCB as a "place
holder" for a loan; $1.5 million for this grant program; $750,000 for South
Platte, $750,000 for AK; there were more than $2.3 million requested;
should be money available later in year; proposal is to get current water
providers (farmers) to be part of the program, then match them us with a
water users (mums, for instance) and then would be ready to go forward
with the program; struggle currently is to raise interest; Don Ament is
presenting this to different ditch companies and groups that we are loolcilig
for these coalitions; have not set another meeting currently.
Bill Jerke: This request does not have to come before this roundtable,
correct?
Yahn: Right.
Don Ament: Marc Sperling(?) of Corn Growers has been supportive of
this, therefore, we have included those letters (8 letters from farm
organizations) along with our application.
Supreme Court Committee on Water Court Reform:
Mike Shimmin:
Conul7ittee has not met since last month; surveys have been sent out for
broad based comments; surveys closed on May 9; survey should be
reported by May 20 and published by May 23. August 1 is deadline for
report.
IL Non-consumptive Needs Assessment:
Tom Iseman, Bert Weaver, Lany Howard, Bob Streeter
Metro Roundtable: Kevin Ury Denver Water, David Nickman Trout, Pete
Con..., Jonathan Conn...
Nicole Rowan and Amy Ackerman and Patricia Reed with consultants
4
