The stabilization of gully bai~lcs and restoration of adjacent areas for two tributary gullies
to the main Slci Creels channel was also started in early August. All work was again
completed by volunteer hand crews and a team from the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps.
In all, over 1075' of gully bail{s were stabilized through the use of check dams, rock
retaining walls, large woody material, and rock armoring. Approximately 25 tons of rock
and four trees (12" - 24" DBH, and approximately 30 feet long) were incorporated into
the various prescriptions. All rock was gathered from the project area and carried by hand
to the site. Trees used were flagged by USFS personnel and were located adjacent to the
gully channels. A two person RMYC chainsaw crew felled and cut the trees for
placement in undercut banks for toe stabilization.

Fig~~re 6-9.
