solicited and secured, invoices collected, and reports were produced. No contingency
funds were required.
Cost to date: $15,000
Will be complete: March 1, 2005
Evaluation of Goal Achievement
The project has initially been judged a great success by the conununity and project
participants. Improvements intended to reduce streambank erosion, improve recreation,
enable fish passage, and enhance habitat will be continually evaluated after spring flow
this year. The project was completed within budget thanks in part to the many in-kind
donations made by landowners, contractors, and community members.
The alignment of the willow fences is different from years past in that they run
perpendicular to rock vanes. The Association tluiilcs this will be a successful angle for
holding the outside banks of the channel in place, trapping nutrient-rich soil between
rows, encouraging natural recruitment of native vegetation, and preventing natural
movement of the river in the short term. This treatment also cost-effectively decreases
sedimentation from bank erosion, protects private property, economic investments, and
serves the community by providing additional habitat, an aesthetically pleasing natural
streambai~lc, and improved recreational potential.
Before dam remo~-a1: October 200 After dam remoti°al: Februai~~ 2006
~-,- Y ~ j µi .. y,~ , - ~ ' ~ 11
~
;
I ~
, ,~A
'
~'
~
' ~
. d;~~~
. ~W
. 1
.
~1 ~
f
> + Y ,
~ ~ 4
" ~~
~
ti '
~ } 7~ ,. ~
~" ~. ~h, 19 ~<. a ,, ,.~.t 6

> ',P, ~'jyt
~ ~ t
Y~~
~
~J
~
e~ly
:
r
~ /~

~~ ~
~q
Vv i
~~
~t~ ~
~
a
~(?°
v
~ +es
f
y

` 'f
N ~
.~. rv a

id4. ~1i ~y. y{~
_
c
+V~ ~
A
~* _ ,
z. ~ .
