Section 2
Field Data Collection Objectives
In addition, up to four more bedrock wells completed in the Denver Basin bedrock
aquifers, as defined by the Denver Basin Rules (DWR 1985), will be selected for water
level measurement. These wells will be instrumented and used to record water levels
at least through Phase 5 of the SPDSS. Suitable locations will be identified and
provided to the State for its approval prior to installing automated water level
transducers and data loggers. The wells will be selected in areas near major pumping
centers at locations where cooperators have been identified.
2.2.2 Alluvial Water Level Monitoring Locations
During Phase 2, several cooperating entities, which were identified as monitoring
alluvial water levels either monthly or in the spring and fall, began providing their
measurements to the SPDSS. In addition to these wells measured by cooperating
entities and those installed for the SPDSS, 10 individuals with wells in locations that
were formerly part of the CSU water level monitoring program were identified in the
Weldona and Balzac interest areas, and their wells were surveyed during Phase 2.
Water levels at all wells installed by the SPDSS will be measured in the spring and
fall, with wells operated by cooperating entities anticipated to also be measured in the
spring and fall. Water levels at the former CSU monitoring wells will be measured by
the SPDSS only during the spring of 2006, prior to irrigation season pumping. The
locations of wells to be measured by the SPDSS or cooperating entities are provided in
Figure 2-3.
`~ ~
2-3
FINAL SPDSS T33 WORK PLAN &3-OS.DOC
