MEMO -TASK 91, APPENDIX C
Some contacts did not receive the letter and others stated that they had received the letter but had
forwarded it on to the current ditch company president.
Contacting the correct personnel was a process that, for some ditch companies, took months. Once the
correct personnel were contacted, most ditch companies wanted a verbal explanation of the project and an
assurance that their input to this project would not be detrimental. Some ditch companies agreed to meet
with us after the telephone conversation, while others needed to take the letter to their board before
committing to meet. Several others stated that they had to do some more research before committing to
meet.
There were over 200 telephone calls to ditch company personnel to schedule meetings. The date, time,
and notes of the telephone calls were recorded in the Ditch Company Contact Database. Multiple
telephone calls to the same person during the week were recorded in the same database activity. This
assisted in tracking the progress and reception of the participating ditch companies. Telephone contacts
were made between January 2004 and December 2005.
C.3. Irrigation Meeting
The irrigation meetings were scheduled at the convenience of the ditch company personnel. The meetings
generally took place at an office or home, but a few were conducted in the field. The following is the set
of topics that were discussed during the meeting:
• Irrigation Status
o Verify irrigated vs. Non-irrigated land
o Identify dryland
o Verify fallow land in 2001
• Irrigation Service Areas
o Verify service area boundary.
o Verify ditch alignment, name, and diversion structure
o Verify parcels that are irrigated by ditch company
• Water Source
o Identify parcels irrigated by ground water, surface water, or both
o Verify Well Locations
o Obtain information on variations in well production
• Irrigation Method
o Verify sprinkler and flood irrigated parcels
o Verify any side roll sprinkler irrigation
• Crop Type
o Verify crop types on broad scale or for any specific parcels
o Obtain information on vegetables in service area
The meetings assisted in educating the ditch company personnel of the efforts by the CWCB in mapping
irrigated lands, resolved any concerns, and provided input to questionable areas. After each meeting the
documented notes and corrections on the prepared maps were used to make edits to the irrigated parcels.
Edits were checked for quality assurance and quality control (QAQC). All QAQC activities were
recorded in the Ditch Company Contact Database.
Page 23 of 55 ~Rlyerslde FecAno[o`(!~Y Inc.
4'JaYer Resourer..s Errgi~ecr:np an~i L'ansuFlrnd
