Department of the Interior Geological Survey (USGS) Digital Line Graphs (DLG) from the State Engineers? Office
(SEO) and the source of 500k data is Colorado State Department of Local Affairs (DOLA).
Hydrologic Units
The CRDSS Spatial Database has two raster and two vector maps for the entire Western Slope showing hydrologic
units that describe boundaries and drainage areas. These data are used to determine drainage areas for the water
rights and consumptive use models and are also used for data analysis. This coverage was generated using 250k
resolution data obtained over the Internet from the United States Geological Survey. This coverage was then
resampled by the IDS Group (CSU) using the Hydrology at 100k resolution (/crdss/arc/crdss_arc/hydro/hydro100)
and Elevation Contours at 100k resolution (/crdss/arc/crdss_arc/topography/cont100m). New points were selected
based on elevation and river features in Arc/Info. One raster and one vector map were produced by combining the
HUC and County boundaries and are also included with the GRASS coverages.
River Reach Data
This information was retrieved and evaluated, but the consultant was not required of complete this task since the data
contained in the Hydrography coverages from the USGS fulfill this category of data.
State Water Division and Water District Boundaries
The CRDSS Spatial Database has two raster and two vector maps that spatially indicate State Engineer?s water
divisions and district boundaries and two label maps with the district and division labels. These data have been
obtained from the State?s inventory in Arc/Info format at a resolution of 1000k. RTi improved its resolution to 100k
based on the 100k Hydrologic Units and the 100k hydrology coverages (crdss/arc/crdss_arc/huc/huc100k) developed
by the IDS Group (CSU).
Municipal Locations and Populations
The CRDSS Spatial Database has a site map for the locations and labels of municipalities with the name and
populations from 1990 census data obtained from the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census.
County Boundaries
The CRDSS Spatial Database has one raster and one vector map that spatially indicate County boundaries. This
coverage was obtained from the Colorado State Department of Local Affairs (DOLA).
Highways and Roads
The CRDSS Spatial Database has a vector map showing the major road and highways. Coverages are from the 1990
census data obtained from the United States Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census.
Irrigated Parcels of Land (Crop Type and Locations)
The CRDSS Spatial Database has separate raster and vector maps for each division and one raster map for the entire
Western Slope. Data were obtained from the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water
Resources. Type of crops implemented in these coverages include: alfalfa, beans, corn, grass, orchards, small grain,
tree farms, vegetables, undetermined crops, and open water features. The Arc/Info coverage was developed from
remote sensed Landsat TM imagery. Boundaries were further enhanced by digitizing on-screen using SPOT
panchromatic imagery base. The coverage was then transferred to mylar overlay and State Engineering Office (SEO)
Page 2
01/03/97 2.03-
01- Lange
