Beginning and Ending Dates of the Growing Season
Beginning and ending dates of the growing season are used to determine the default dates of a crop's
growing season. Unless they are earlier than the earliest moisture use or later than the latest moisture
use, these dates are used to define the growing season duration. These data are needed to operate the
consumptive use model and may be obtained from the SCS and ASCE manual Evapotranspiration and
Irrigation Water Requirements. The database entity that will hold these data is the
crop_character
entity.
Mean Air Temperatures of Earliest and Latest Moisture Use
Mean air temperatures of earliest and latest moisture use are temperatures defining the growing season of
a crop. The earliest moisture use would take place during the first planting of the crop, and the latest
moisture use would take place during the last harvest of the crop. This temperature is basically a
measure of how sensitive the plants are to frosts during the beginning and the end of the growing season.
These data are needed to operate of the consumptive use model and may be obtained from the SCS and
ASCE manual Evapotranspiration and Irrigation Water Requirements . The database entity that will
hold these data is the entity.
crop_character
Soil Characteristics
Soil characteristics are needed to describe how water moves through a specific soil and the soil's capacity
to store water. These characteristics are estimated from basic soil information, such as soil type and
depth. These data are needed to operate the consumptive use model and may be obtained from the SCS.
The database entity that will hold these data is the entity.
soil_coeff
Stock Ponds Characteristics
Stock ponds characteristics are a table of values that will be used to compute stock pond evaporation.
The most probable source for these data is the State. These data are needed to operate the consumptive
use model. These data are derived from a formula that computes a surface area, given a known volume.
The database entity that will hold these data is the entity.
Non_Jurisdictional_dam
Livestock Consumptive Use Characteristics
Livestock consumptive use characteristics are a table of values that describe the volume of water
consumed by three types of livestock (cows, sheep, and hogs). These data are needed to operate the
consumptive use model and may be obtained from technical publications (e.g., Great Plains Beef Cow-
Calf Handbook ). The database entity that will hold these data is the entity.
creature_coeff
Human Consumptive Use Characteristics
Human consumptive use characteristics are a table of values that describe the volume of water consumed
by humans. These data are needed to operate the consumptive use model and are available from
technical publications. The database entity that will hold these data is the entity.
creature_coeff
2
A275 01.08.95 1.07-1 IDS Group
