Maximum Reservoir Storage Capacity
Maximum reservoir storage capacity is the volume of water contained in a reservoir when the water level
is at the crest of the dam. These data are used for the water rights planning model and are available and
have been acquired from the State's Dam Inventory Database. The database entity that will hold these
data is the entity.
Reservoir
Minimum Reservoir Storage Capacity/Dead Storage Volume
Minimum reservoir storage capacity or reservoir dead storage volume is the minimum storage capacity
of the reservoir when the reservoir level is as low as it can be. The most probable source for these data
are the State's reservoir data files. These data are used for the water rights planning model. The database
entity that will hold these data is the entity.
Reservoir
Normal Reservoir Storage Capacity and Surface Area
Reservoir surface area at normal storage capacity is the surface area when the reservoir is at normal
operation. Normal reservoir storage capacity is the volume of water at the normal operation level,
typically at the elevation of the spillway. These data are needed for the evaporation rates for operation of
both the water rights planning and the consumptive use model. These data have been acquired from the
State's Dam Inventory Database. The database entity that will hold these data is the entity.
Reservoir
Reservoir Elevation Versus Surface Area and Storage Characteristics
Reservoir elevation versus storage characteristics comprises a table of values corresponding to the
amount of storage for a given reservoir elevation. These data are needed to operate the water rights
planning models and will most likely be obtained from the specific water users, the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation (USBR), or Denver Water. The database entity that will hold these data is the
entity.
Area_capacity_table
Structure Capacity
Demand nodes are used to describe the structures for diversion, storage, or measurement of surface water
flow. These data are needed to operate the consumptive use model and the water rights planning model
and will most likely be obtained from the State, USBR, or Denver Water. The database entity that will
hold these data has not been defined at this time given the model-specific nature of these data and the
requirement that the model selection process be completed before the database entity is defined.
However, an entity is planned for these data within the overall CRDSS design.
3.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The database task leaders and the modeling task leaders have identified the physical data needed with an
emphasis on the Gunnison River basin. The data types are summarized in Table 1, and the anticipated
population schedule is found in Table 2.
3
A275 01.08.95 1.07-1 IDS Group
