The interface for ET maps (a project jointly sponsored by the Colorado Water Resources
?
Research Institute and the State Engineer's Office of Colorado) was ported to the SGI from a
SUN workstation. Since the running platform has changed from Sun SPARCstation running
Sun OS 4.1.1 to SGI Indy running IRIX 5.2, some porting issues needed to be resolved. The
memory allocation and manipulation functions needed to be updated, and some issues regarding
the change from X11R4 to X11R5 were solved.

Modifications were made to ET maps to make them compatible with the CRDSS. Some
?
features were removed, fixed, or added in this process.

The CU model interface was incorporated into the CRDSS script a nd installed on the State's
?
machine.

The CU model interface continually went through enhancements, including fixing bugs,
?
displaying multi-maps, setting app-default files, setting environment variables, manipulating
color maps, helping through the Mosaic interface, and writing man pages.

The State tested the functional CU model interface.
?
Subtask 4: Documentation
The decision to use Mosaic for on-line documentation was made and design aspects were
?
discussed. Filters for converting existing word processor documents to html (hypertext markup
language) were explored.

The existing XCONS2 model was documented, including variable definitions and technical
?
background. These items will be included in the CRDSS Users' Manual and the on-line
documentation.

The technical background section for the agricultural category of consumptive use was
?
developed. This item will be part of the CRDSS Users' Manual and the on-line documentation.

The code for the CU model interface and the ?run_cu? program was well documented,
?
including headers on files, variable definitions, and man pages. The second draft of the CU
Mosaic documentation was completed.

Extensive Mosaic documentation has been developed.
?
Subtask 5: Develop Technical Methods for Calculating CU

The X and Motif libraries were installed on the SGI.
?

Input and output data that will be required by the Penman-Monteith grass and alfalfa reference
?
crop equations were identified.

The XCONS2 FORTRAN program was reformatted and prepared for integration into the CU
?
model.

4
A 275 01.09.95 1.14-6 Lange
