A prototype of the GUI for the CU model was developed and shown to the State for comments.
?

A methodology for aggregating the soils data to get a soil moisture holding capacity and
?
permanent wilting point for different soils and crops was developed.
Subtask 2: Develop DMI Software
The specific types of data needed by the CU model were identified. This included identifying
?
low-level DMIs needed to retrieve information from the database.

Task Memoranda 1.14-10 through 1.14-13 were written to describe low-level DMIs needed to
?
retrieve information from the database.

A link was established and tested between ARC/INFO and INFORMIX. Attribute data from
?
ARC/INFO files were transferred directly to INFORMIX.

Close coordination with the database was ongoing to assure that the data needs of the CU model
?
were incorporated into the database.

A complete sample input file for all CU categories was developed. This input file was provided
?
to the State for review. The final input files are documented in the ?cu_input? man page.

Existing GRASS 4.0 functions were ported and updated to GRASS 4.1 in a library format on
?
the SGI workstation.

DMIs were developed to retrieve data stored in the relational database (physical characteristics,
?
station, and historical) corresponding to locations displayed in the CU model.

A link between IDS Group machines (IRIX 5.2) and the RTi INFORMIX server was
?
established to link CU model site maps with data in the INFORMIX database.

Links from GRASS to INFORMIX for climate data (min, max, and average temperatures),
?
precipitation, and flows were created.

Data stored in INFORMIX can now be accessed by clicking on the visual data browser (VDB)
?
maps showing the sites for each type of data. The graphs are being generated using the
?crdssgr? utility.
Subtask 3: Develop GUI

C libraries necessary for the consumptive use GUI were ported to the SGI from a SUN
?
platform.

The IDS library of C routines was continually improved and enhanced.
?

ARC/INFO was installed on the IDS SGI (Fall).
?

GRASS 4.1 was installed on the IDS SGI (Fall), which included fixing some bugs in the
?
GRASS code that showed up in the more sensitive SGI compiler.
3
A 275 01.09.95 1.14-6 Lange
