<br />- 7 - <br /> <br />CWCB - Tom Brownin2 <br />. CWCB Flood Protection Program staff took spatial snowpack data from SNODAS project and <br />used maps for flood preparedness. Maps brought to the meeting were swe loss and basins of <br />concerns for snowmelt flooding. <br />. Flood Protection Staff members Brian Hyde, Tom Browning, and Kevin Houck were busy <br />meeting with local governments this year for flood preparedness activities. <br />. The CWCB has Ayres & Associates under contract to help with the state's annual flood <br />documentation that is published in December. <br />. Tom Browning and Kevin Houck at this point shared <br />photos from travels around the state and flood <br />documentation efforts with the Task Forces and some <br />sample photos are shown. <br />. The North fork of the Gunnison River had migration <br />and erosion issues. This year debris removal was a big <br />issue from culverts and bridges. <br />. Willow Creek above Creede, is below Commodore <br />mine and the mine tailings piles were a problem. <br />There was damage to the channel, roadway washed <br />out, and the tailings pile served as a dam to exacerbate issues. <br />. This year recreational accidents was big story, i.e. deaths from kayaking, <br /> <br />CWCB - Kevin Houck <br />. Kevin Houck is the Flood Protection Program's <br />FEMA - Community Assistance Program Coordinator. <br />He took over and showed some pictures from his busy <br />spring meetings with local governments. <br />. Kevin warned that there is still some snowpack in the <br />mountains in the southwest and we are not out of the <br />woods yet. <br />. For the San Juan River at Pagosa Springs the resort <br />had a few lower levels of picnic benches under water. <br />The picture is not the actual maximum flow but was <br />close to 5,000 cfs, the River peak flow is around I AM. <br /> <br />CWCB - Larrv Lan2 <br />. Has worked with the Town of Dolores for many <br />years and explained that the Dolores River has <br />good levy built by the Corps and a bad levy.
