Pa g e 26

newly determined wind direction at 9,600 ft. This heading
and its reciprocal will be used for all passes at all
altitudes until the next wind measurement is made at 9600 ft.
The pass on the downwind side will be terminated if the
aircraft has exited the significant liquid water zone at that
level before the airspace boundaries have been reached. The
aircraft will then climb to 12,000 ft for an upwind pass,
14,000 ft for a downwind pass, and 17,000 ft for an upwind
pass. If the 17,000 ft pass is still in cloud, a "pop-up"
spiral sounding may be made to cloud top if the FAA flight
control center approves.

The aircraft will then descend to 9600 ft for a "crest-line"
pass approximately along the 39 n.mi. DME arc from the 215 to
the 245 deg. radial, entering from either end at the pilot's
discretion. This pass will measure the uniformity of SLW
over the crest-line, and will update the wind direction at
9600 ft. A second series of passes, if requested, will begin
from the downwind side of Happy Jack at 9600 ft and continue
to 17,000 ft as described above.

The pattern for the Payson region will be similar with
respect to a pivot point located on the Winslow 193 deg.
radial at 44 n.mi. The altitudes will normally be restricted
