FIELD OPERATIONS <br />7.1 Personnel: Management and Responsibilities <br />7.1.1 Direction and Management of Field Program <br />The overall direction and management of the field program \'dll be <br />the responsibility of Dr. James R. Scoggins for the month of June" and <br />of Mr. Bob Riggio for the month of July. Mr. John T. Carr, Jr. and Mr. <br />George Bomar will serve as alternate Project Directors for interim periods <br />if and when needed. It is anticipated that the primary responsibility of <br />the Project Director will be related to decisions regarding the deployment <br />of aircraft and the type of seeding to be accomplished. It will also <br />be the responsibility of the Project Director to provide the overall <br />direction as required during the conduct of the field program. ~le Project <br />Director will not permit any seeding operations within a National Weather <br />Service severe weather area, either forecasted or existing, in the Texas <br />HIPLEX area. <br />7.1.2 Mesoscale Program: Surface Stations and Rawinsonde Sotmdings <br />TAMU personnel will be responsible for the operation of all special <br />surface stations,except the one at Big Spring which will be the responsi- <br />bility of TDWR, for rawinsonde soundings made at Robert Lee and Post, and <br />for acquiring soundings from the National Weather Service at Midlcmd. <br />CRMWD personnel will be responsible for rawinsonde soundings made at Big <br />Spring in support of the mesoscale program as well as special sOillldings <br />required for forecasting purposes. <br />7.1.3 Raingage Network <br />C~lD personnel will be responsible for the operation and maintenance <br />of the raingage network, consisting of fencepost and recording raingages. <br />CRMWD will also be responsible for the collection of all raingage data <br />and for extracting and recording all data from the fencepost gages, and for <br />forwarding all recording raingage charts to Miles City for processing. <br />7.1.4 Radar <br />7.1.4.1 M-33 <br />MRI will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the <br />M-33 radar located at Snyder. This radar will be operated on all days <br />when convective echoes are present, and at other times when requested <br />by the Project Director. All digital data will be recorded on ma~~etic <br />tape. <br /> <br />19 <br />
