<br />B. Irrigation Efficiency. Each landscape zone will include proper irrigation for the specific <br />plant pallet. Drip irrigation will be used in the majority of planting areas. The irrigation <br />system for these landscapes will be fully automated. <br /> <br />1. Landscaping and proper irrigation with the incorporation of hydro <br />zones. <br />2. Irrigation equipment appropriate for plant material. This will include <br />irrigation controllers,. sprinklers, and drip systems~ <br />3. Wind and rain gauges will be installed to demonstrate their <br />effectiveness. <br />4. Each designated area will be individually metered to quantify the water <br />savings . <br /> <br />c. Education. The main pwpose of the garden is to provide an effective means of <br />educating the public on the advantages of incorporating water-efficiency in landscaping. <br /> <br />1" Brochures will be available and will include information on plant <br />spacing, planting and irrigation. <br />2. Organized tours will be available throughout the summer6 <br /> <br />D. Tuf Seledion and Maintenance. Turf represents a large portion of the American <br />landscape. Turf watering requirements are often overestimated, with applied irrigation <br />water often doubling that of the recommended watering budget. An objective of the <br />garden is to encourage a change in the general public's percrption of what makes <br />landscapes atttactive and to promote the use of appropriate turf species and alternate <br />groundcovers" <br /> <br />1. Six different turf grasses to display a variety of grasses for low to moderate <br />water use~ Plots will be' individually metered to iDustrate water' usage~ <br />2. The maintenance of turf, for example, proper mowing height, dethatching <br />and aeration.. The type of irrigation systems to use and their maintenance~ <br />3.
