<br />Section 5: <br /> <br />Scope of Work <br /> <br />The purpose of the proposed Landscape Demonstration Garden is to provide live and scalable <br />landscapes that both residential and commercial customers can incorporate into their own <br />landscaping projects~ Visitors can see a variety of native grasses and plants. There will be <br />examples of hydro zoning, which is grouping plants by their water needs and irrigating each <br />group by separate zones. Visits to the garden will be enhanced 'by interpretive signage and <br />useful brochures. The garden will be a key element in irrigation, landscaping, and hardscaping <br />education. <br /> <br />Conservation Plan and Water Savinp <br /> <br />The Landscape Demonstration Garden would increase customer awareness of water <br />conservation and therefore reduce watering schedules and assist the District in meeting its <br />targeted water savings goal. BLeO anticipates a water savings goal of 726,000 gallons per year <br />which after an 8 year 'period equals a savings of 5,800,000 gallons with this project <br /> <br />Major Components <br /> <br />ELCO has hired a professional Landscape Architect to design a landscape plan that will help <br />educate customers. The District plans to install the following major components: <br /> <br />A. Water-Wise Plants. The primary purpose of the garden is to educate the general public <br />on the use of native and drought tolerant plants commonly available. There is a need to <br />show residential 'homeowners and commercial landscape mana,gfTS bow easy it can be to, <br />become efficient in their water usage while beautifying their landcrapes.. <br /> <br />1. 1be garden will promote a large variety of drought tolerant plants, <br />including six varieties of turf grasSr <br />2. On display will be approximately 9 different trees and 35 different plants <br />and bushes. <br />3.
