<br />Supplied from river and delivered to the rese~voir <br />. . . . . . . ........................... .. 29,033 Acre-Feet <br />Total diverted from the river. ..39.242 Acre-Feet <br />Total loss in transit. . . . . . .. .. 10,209 Acre-Feet <br />This loss is 26% of the total amount diverted. <br /> <br />RESERVOIR OUTLET. <br /> <br />The outlet to the reservoir is a canal which flows di- <br />rectly south on the county line, for about 2 miles, and <br />then winds about some four miles further before enter- <br />ing the main Fort Lyon Canal. This outlet is on a flat <br />grade, and needs enlargement artificial,y to carry the <br />waste which is to be drawn out of the reservoir, as the <br />grade is insufficient to enlarge the ditch by natural sluic- <br />ing. <br /> <br />ELEVATION. <br />The crest of the dam when completed will be at an e:- <br />evation of 4,113.7 feet above sea-level, or 257 feet <br />higher than the Santa Fe depot at Las Animas. <br /> <br />THE ADOBE CREEK RESERVOIR. <br /> <br />Four natural lakes, usually containing some water, oc- <br />cupying basins in proximity in a larger depression in the <br />plains, have been utilized to form the largest reservo~r <br />of the system, located some 8 or 10 miles northeast of <br />the Horse Creek Reservoir, and 17.5 feet higher in el- <br /> <br />48 <br />
