The en- <br />largement of the canal to a capacity of 4,400 second- <br />feet, making it 100 feet on the bottom and 10 feet deep, <br />for the first 4 miles, to the Horse Creek Reservoir gate, <br />together involve 686,000 cubic yards of excavation, and <br />this, together with the dam and enlarged waste gates <br />into the reservoir would cost 570,000.00 to 575,000.00. <br />The enlargement of the Canal to carry 2,300 feet to <br />Adobe Creek Reservoir would cost about S50,000.00 <br />more. <br /> <br />The records of the State Engineer show the inflow of <br />Horse Creek into the river in 1904 to have been 18,900 <br />acre-feet, and in 1909; 5,526 acre-feet. These are but <br />desultory measurements, and do not pretend to be com- <br />plete. <br /> <br />Mr. C. W. Burke, Superintendent, reported 14 days in- <br />flow from Horse Creek to the Reservoir in 1909, amount- <br />ing to 3,200 acre-feet in all.
