DIRECTORS JOIN ENTITIES WITHIN
THE ARKANSAS RIVER BASIN

At a special meeting Sep-
tember 10. 2003 the Board of
Directors for the Southeastern
Colorado \Yater Conseryancy
District ~SEC\\TD) unani-
mously yoted to adopt and pur-
sue the goals and principles of
the _-\.rkansas Riwr \Yater Pres-
elyation Committee.
The _-\.rkansas Riyer \Yater
Presen:ation Committee is a
collaboration of entities \,'ithin
the Arkansas \ - alley Basin
formed to safeguard and pre-
serw, for present and future
generations. the \yater ayailable
for diwrsion and use \yithin
the Arkansas Riyer Basin. The
entities inyoh-ed are Pueblo
and Colorado Springs City
Councils. Board of \Yater
\Yorks of Pueblo. Lo\"er Ar-
kansas YaHey \Yater Conser-
yancy District. Cpper Arkansas
\Yater ConseITancy District

and SEC\\TD. SEC\YCD
President Alan Hamel signed as
one of the drafters of the docu-
ment and General ~lanager
James Broderick as an official.
The committee \"as formed
early in the year as an approach
to gather those that expressed
concerns regarding "'ater use
\,-ithin the basin.
The idea of the goals and
principles are to proyide guide-
lines to aHo\" those \"ithin the
basin a template to adhere to for
"'ater issues. In essence the
goals are to reinforce the col-
laboratiye etTort of entities
",ithin the basin.

RECLAMATION REFORM ACT
REPORTING FOR 2004

This notice is to remind those landholders within the
boundaries of the District that the Reclamation Reform
Act (RRA) forms will be distributed to individuals by mid
January. RRA applies to those landholders/entities that
own, lease, or combination of both irrigable land over 240
acres. Reporting is mandatory and those that opt not to
report or don't report on time will be denied Fry-Ark Pro-
ject and Winter water.

has an impact beyond a

serves a valuable and
