In the Fall of 2002, the Dis-
trict slalf received approval of a
plan presented by Bob Hamil-
ton, the- District's Water Re-
source Manager to engage a
l'onsultallt 10 work on the Dis-
trict's GCl.lgraphie Jllfi.lf1natiun
Systcm's (GIS) data base. The
following brief owrview ex-
plains whe-re we an~ today and
what we hope to accomplish in
the future. This bold initiative
identilie-s and makes possible
real henctits for the staff. the
Directors, and the District as iI
whole-.
Phase- One- of the planning
proecss began with a base-line of
the Distril.:t's digital data assets.
This \vork included a compre.
hensive inventory of b.lse map-
ping neede-d as well as the ba.
sics 10 include an accuratc dc-
lineation of the 195X and the
::!OD::! District boundaries. Ilhasc
One- is RO percent complete- and
a Water Rights Data Base and
graphics tile has been create-d.
