H. She~rraun: Need to bring this to closure. We will have staff capture what theybe heard today
to a rough vision statement. Alternatively we could put out a sununary of what everyone has
said and have another meeting and then have a draft vision statement.
D. Big°ch: Don't feel strongly that we need another discussion. I am fine going with a draft
document for the group to review.
M. Ccitlin: I think this is important if you could get the staff to get out what we have today and
come back in April and see if we can then take back to our Roundtables. I would like to see
this move forward to vision we can all agree to in some way. We need to try to do this as
quickly as possible.
H. S'heNman: Just la7owing everyone's schedule is difficult.
K. Cu~y: Vision for water supply? Vision that describes the role of this group.
H. She~rraccn: Vision for state's water future -part of that is what is the role of this group?
T. W. Dickinson: We don't all know yet what we are agreeing to so another in-depth conversation
is imperative. We are going to have to vet this substantially.
S: Mo~ec~: We will take what you've written and add to it based on the notes. In May we'll have a
dialogue on what the vision should be.
E. Wilkinson: Also distribute a rough draft on the vision prior to the May meeting.
Discussion of Zebra Mussels in Pueblo Reservoir
A representative from Colorado State Parks gave a presentation on the finding of zebra mussels
in Pueblo Reservoir.
S. Vun~live~: Is infestation inevitable? Are we delaying the inevitable? Answer: we are trying to
keep the numbers down and are implementing measures to prevent them from spreading.
T. DoheNty: State Parks is before the IBCC asking for a waiver of the 60-day requirement on
submitting WSRA application. They are asking for this waiver so that the grant application
can be considered by the CWCB at the March meeting. If it is not considered at the March
meeting the next funding cycle is September and we will have missed the window of
opportuiuty to potentially contain the zebra mussels before the waters warm up. Capital costs
are $1,000,000.
H. She~nu~n: We are looping to severance tax and other state monies to address this issue past
this summer and we are developing an overall budget at the state level to address this issue.
J. Gireibel: BOR has constraints on its budget and look to the regional budget.
12
